About Vanguard 15 Fleet 43

Fleet 43 is located at the southern end of Belmont Harbor near the Chicago Yacht Club's Belmont Station. The harbor is just a few minutes north of downtown Chicago. Our fleet currently has over 25 Vanguard 15's stored year round. We have rack storage and a limited number of upright spaces. Launching is facilitated by a large ramp that is easily accessible for visiting boaters. We also have three cranes that can be used during large events.

Fleet 43 was started in 1996 with 3 boats. We have a fun, diverse group of people of all ages and experience levels. We stress fun and learning as part of every season. Aside from sailing, we put on social events and host clinics to help newer sailors get up to speed.

As part of the Chicago Yacht Club's One Design Program, Fleet 43 races on Sundays and hosts three two-day invitational regattas. We also participate in Spring and Fall frostbiting, making the V15 one of the few three-season boats in Chicago. Additionally, Fleet 43 races on Thursday evenings with Fleet 67 from Montrose harbor.

It is anticipated that the Vanguard 15 Southern Lake Michigan Fleets will maintain steady growth, while continuing to provide excellent sailing and fun for those interested in dinghy racing
