NOTICE OF RACE
The Organizing Authority is Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club and Vanguard Fleet 67.
1. Rules
1.1 This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. Appendix D will apply.
1.2 Rule 40 is changed to apply without the need to display flag Y at all times afloat except for brief periods when changing clothes.
1.3 If there is a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions will take precedence.2. Eligibility and Entry
2.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Vanguard 15 class.
2.2 Each competing team shall consist of one skipper and one crew per boat with three boats per team.
2.3 Eligible crews may enter by completing an entry form, registering with the organizing authority and paying the entry fee. http://www.v15.org/windycity
2.4 Every participating sailor shall be a member of US SAILING. This is a requirement for being a qualifier for the UNITED STATES TEAM RACING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE GEORGE R. HINMAN TROPHY.
2.5 Teams shall wear identification bibs supplied by the Organizing Authority outside their PFDs.
2.6 The Organizing Authority will provide yellow and red protest flags to each boat at registration.3. Registration and Fees
3.1 Registration and entry fees must be received by the Organizing Authority by the end of Registration and Weigh-in on June 19, 2010. The entry fee is $360 per team. *$371.00 via paypal

3.3 All teams shall notify the Organizing Authority via email (jacob.karlin@gmail.com) by Thursday,
June 17, 2010 of their intent to race so that seeding for the first round robin can occur.4. Format of Racing
The regatta format and number of races will be determined by the Organizing Authority and Chief Umpire in consultation with the Principal Race Officer, and will be based on the number of registered teams and the weather conditions. Possible formats include round robins, split fleet round robins, elimination ladder, Swiss or Modified Swiss League, and others followed by quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. The format to be attempted, contingency formats, if any, and changes to the format will be in accordance with Rule 90.2(c).5. Schedule of Events

5.2 Boats wanting to practice before the regatta must obtain approval from the Organizing Authority in order to store your boats.6. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be posted on the website prior to the event and will be available at check-in.7. Course and Venue
7.1 The course will be the digital āNā. To maintain a course configuration or to change course length, marks may be moved as necessary, but no mark shall be moved when any boat is on the leg that it terminates. A leg of the course may not be deleted. This changes RRS 32.2 and 33.

7.2 The racing location is in the open water of Lake Michigan within one and a half nautical miles from the Montrose Harbor entrance
8. Scoring
Scoring will be in accordance with Appendix D, except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.9. Umpiring
The regatta will be umpired per D2.2.10. Prizes
Awards will be given to the top three teams.11 Minimum Crew Weight and Wet Clothing
11.1 The combined weight of each six-person team shall not be less than 870 pounds. Each team whose combined weight is less than this amount shall carry penalty weight while racing. The amount of penalty weight will be one pound of corrector weight for each pound of combined crew weight less than 870 pounds. Penalty weights shall be distributed among the boats of a team to make the combined weight of skipper and crew of each of the three boats as even as practicable. The jury, on request, may approve a more equitable distribution.
11.2 Each team member with a combined weight of less than 870 pounds shall be responsible for supplying its own corrector weights. Only water in sealed jugs shall be acceptable. Competitors shall carry the penalty corrector weights in every race, from boat to boat, and shall secure them in the cockpit of each boat.
11.3 Competitors shall be weighed by the organizing authority at check-in on the scale provided to determine the combined weight. The competitors shall be weighed in dry swimming attire or light clothing with empty pockets.
11.4 There may be spot weight checks during the regatta.12. UNITED STATES TEAM RACING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE GEORGE R. HINMAN TROPHY
The winning team will receive an invitation to the 2010 United States Team Racing Championship for the George R. Hinman Trophy, hosted by Seattle Yacht Club, September 30 - October 3, 2010, subject to the US SAILING eligibility requirements of that regatta. Only one skipper and one crew may be substituted from the qualifying team to the team that participates.13. Further Information
